The SCI VETS GWAC Industry Partner’s Team Brief Capabilities

Standard Communications, Inc (SCI), the Prime Contractor, is a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) that specializes in Information Technology (IT) and Telecommunications Integration of voice, data, video and infrastructure projects as well as IT Program and Logistics support for classified and unclassified projects. SCI is a holder of both a GSA IT and a MOBIS Schedule Contract and mentors other SDVOSB and VOSBs in securing their own GSA Schedule Contract. We commit to give our customers a value solution on time.

SCI is proud to have had a hand in the formation of this GSA VETS GWAC. The genesis of the program began when the president of SCI simply presented a ten-point white paper in early March 2004 to the Honorable Brad Scott, the GSA Heartland Regional Administrator, who had just been name by GSA Administrator, Stephen Perry as the GSA Executive in charge of leading the SDVOSB imperatives of Public Laws 106-50 and 108-183. This program lives, in fact, primarily through the undying commitment of Mr. Scott, his assistant, Tom Brown of GSA, and Scott Denniston, the Director of the Small and Disadvantaged Business Office at the Department of Veterans Affairs. Their proposal for a comprehensive Executive Order included the establishment of a campaign to get the word out entitled Operation Jumpstart which was kicked off at the Reagan Building in Washington, DC with Senator Robert Dole giving a heartfelt speech the week before the commemoration of the WWII Memorial to almost a thousand vets. Among many important directives included in the Executive Order, the VETS GWAC and a proactive reach out and assistance program was conducted by the GSA to include VOSBs and SDVOSBs in the quest for their own GSA Schedule. On behalf of countless veteran business owners, I’m pleased that these two entrepreneurship assists were incorporated as Paragraph 4a and 4b of Executive Order 13-360 signed by President George W. Bush in October 2004. Since the initiation of the veterans entrepreneurship initiative, there have been countless others who have given their time with great passion to make this program work. We are all indebted to these fine public servants. Thank you.

Okay fellow vets, let’s help the Executive Agencies meet their SDVOSB procurement imperative, put other vets to work and make a few bucks in the process.

In the early ‘60s I served on the U.S.S. Salamonie (AO-26), a fleet oiler, our motto was “Anywhere, Any time, Any Weather” at SCI we can still do that today!

John P. Molière, President and Proud SDVOSB Owner
